Week 14 - October 20-26, Part 1

October 22 & 23
This week we added the beginnings of the central vacuum, the back door, and the fireplace and entertainment center walls. However the eight foot wall is too big and will have to be cut down to 7 feet....sorry Tom!

Here's what the "hide a hose" looks like in the ceiling. The vacuum hose will be sucked up into the walls and ceiling and can be pulled out when you want to use it.

The white box is where the hose can be pulled out to use for vacuuming. I will have 3 of these in the house, this one is in the doorway of Den's walk-in closet and can reach all of the laundry room, the master bath, the master bedroom , and the mud rooom. There is another one in the hallway coming from the garage and it reaches Den's study, the mudroom and the kitchen. The last one is in the hallway of the guest bedrooms and is longer so that it reaches the bedrooms as well as the living and dining areas.

Den is measuring the fireplace/entertainment wall...it is too tall and Tom will need to cut it down to 7 feet. You can see the fireplace on the left side....it is see thru, so it is visible from the dining room, the kitchen and the living room.

The back door is finally in!

The Doorways

This is the framework for the pocket door for our Master Bedroom.

This shows the framework for the pocket door for the laundry room.

This is the framing for the short wall that will be at the front door. It will butt up next to the kitchen cabinets on one side and form a short "foyer" on the other.

This shows the framing for the short wall in the living room. It helps form the bay window on one side and the exit to the patio on the other.
