Let the Digging Begin

Since MaMa Fry is on vacation, I will help by keeping the site moving forward. On Monday, July 21, the official digging began at the home site. The kids couldn't wait to get over and see what progress had been made. Might I mention MaMa Fry and Aunt MiMi couldn't wait either!! The orange lines on the ground represent where they will dig the ground for the basement.

After surveying the land, they realized that the house will end up having a walkout basement. This was a real surprise and will require some changes to the plans.

The girls were excited to ride on the equipment and help dig the hole.

Gini got to make the bucket pick up the load of dirt and dump it!!

Nina got to make the tractor move forwards and backwards.

...And Trey got to sit on Larry's lap and check it all out!!

And the ground breaks, July 20, 2008....7:00 p.m.

In the miserable heat of July, my sister Janet hosted a ground-breaking party at 113 Elmbank.

We feasted on Twinkies and cookies

and toasted with wine, champagne, sparkling lemonade and pomegranate

We broke the ground.....most of us could not make a dent in it, but a few managed some small holes. After throwing the dirt, we all headed for home cause it was just too darn hot!

Tomorrow they come with stakes and the big digging equipment......
