This week the contractor will be busy working on another project, so Dennis was assigned the task of building a stone wall to hold up the rock that will support the driveway. This becomes the first of many (I'm sure) added expenses that are going to happen because of the surprise walk-out basement. So while the contractor's away.....the boys will play.

Den and Gary start the prep work...
They have to dig low enough to bury a drain pipe......
Check out the high class equipment...What is that brown barrel on the back anyway?
And now, the sum total of the first day's progress. This is the left back of the driveway up against the house.
And the right back next to the neighbor's house....
and a view from the street.
Tuesday/Wednesday, August 27 and 28
Den and Gary worked evenings until after dark to get everything ready for the big weekend project.
First the drain pipe goes in.....
The rock is delivered and delivered and delivered.....
The rock will have to come up above Den's waist in order to keep the driveway level. The driveway itself comes from the street, turns into the garage, and extends past the garage another car (truck) length.
Gary moves the rock to start fillin' it up. Click on the arrow below the picture to see Gary play tractor.
The drain comes out the other side.
Here's the progress looking from the side...
and from the back.
